About Yair

From local schools and community programs to jobs across the city, Yair's story is closely tied to the people and places that make up Chula Vista. From his early days at Loma Verde Elementary and the Boys & Girls Club, to swimming for and graduating from Eastlake High School, this community has shaped who he is. He went on to earn an associate degree from Southwestern College, building friendships and connections every step of the way. His story is one of service across all walks of life. Whether you visited a local yogurt shop while he was working, ate a pizza he prepared in one of the busiest food courts in the country, or remember him as the friendly security guard at the pool, Yair has always been part of this community.
Managing and forecasting millions of dollars in complex government contracts and budget projections. He has served in deeply challenging roles, including stepping in as a welfare worker to support people during their most difficult moments. Even in situations where frustration boiled over, he showed up to help, not turn away. He brings both fiscal responsibility to the budget and genuine compassion to the community.
When Yair talks about roots and community, it is not just words. It is a lifetime of service and gratitude for the city, county, state, and cross-border region that helped shape him and those he cares about. That gratitude drives his commitment to give back, especially as rising costs have pushed some friends and families out of the communities they once called home. His decision to return to school later in life reflects that same commitment to growth, service, and showing others that it is never too late to invest in yourself and your community.
Family & Roots

There is no single mold or agenda. Just a shared desire to help move one of the world's best cities forward for everyone who calls it home.
